Serengeti Gold Slot Machine: Review & Demo
Microgaming keeps releasing several new slots each month, but it’s not thanks to their own development work that this happens. As is the case with the game we’re checking out today, Serengeti Gold, it’s thanks to partners that this is possible. Just For The Win is the name of the independent studio that worked on this game, which we’re finding as an exclusive on Microgaming’s casinos.
They went with a very common setup, where 25 lines are found on 5x3 reels. You can expect a game with high volatility, rewards of up to 2,500x the stake ($250,000 cash), and a 96.10% RTP which works just fine. Major features would include respins, several scatters, free spins with multipliers, or Lion wilds.
Serengeti Gold Betting and Prizes
$0.20 is considered enough to cover the Serengeti Gold’s 25 lines. There doesn’t seem to be an exact connection between the coins and lines which are used. Up to $100 may be wagered, so a coin can take a value of up to $5.
Payouts can be pretty good, even going as high as 2,500x the stake, and worth up to $250,000. That will happen thanks to the respin feature, which can deliver a Mega Jackpot, or via regular combinations which benefit from the presence of the free spins multiplier (20x the stake paid at most per line during paid spins, while the free spins can pay 100x for the same symbols).
Ultimately, you will find here a highly volatile experience, but long-term it’s about as fair as you’d expect, RTP being 96.10%.
Slot Features
A respin feature was added, as a way for you to access the Mega Jackpot. First, you need a number of those gold coins scattered on the reels. If the requirements are met, you will find that they are going to become locked in their current positions. Next, the other positions clear, and 3 respins will start. Your aim is to get additional scatters to show up, as this resets the respins and the new symbols are also locked.
Eventually, you will either fill the reels with scatters (triggering the Mega Jackpot), or you will run out of respins. Each locked scatter will have a random prize to give you, and these can quickly add up to some very interesting payouts.
The Lion serves as the wild in this particular slot machine, so it comes in handy if you can get it to land on the right line, where you have the rest of the required symbols for a combo. I’d also mention that it can pay directly, forming combinations which are worth as much as the top regular symbol (20x the stake).
A Free Spins logo can also land here, and you may use it as a trigger for the appropriate feature. It’s going to rely on a Free Spins Wheel. Its spins will deliver anywhere between 10 and 25 free spins, along with a multiplier of up to 5x, which will apply to all winning combinations.
Theme & Design
A slot machine of this type is not hard to find. Safari inspired designs are everywhere these days, and I assume it’s because people like them, and respond well to them. We’re going to the Serengeti safari in this case, and the main symbols range from the Lion wilds, to Elephants, Rhinos, Cheetahs and Buffalo. We then get Royals of lower value and simple design, along with the rest of the feature symbols (coins and free spins logos).
Conclusion
Serengeti Gold should do well enough for most players, but I believe that the high volatility rating doesn’t quite fit the amount that you can claim from its top jackpot.
