Mustang Riches Slot Machine: Review & Demo
The North American prairie, and its wildlife, serves as a backdrop and inspiration when it comes to the design of Mustang Riches. Check out its features, and you’re going to find some very interesting options, implemented by SpinPlay Games in this Microgaming exclusive. There is plenty for a player to explore, and with above-average rewards to claim as well, the slot is a plus for Microgaming’s collection.
Mustang Riches has 5x3 reels and 243 ways to win when you’re starting out the game. It can expand the game area, doubling it in size, and taking it up to 7,776 ways to win, all through the BlazingWays system. You can get paid up to 7,236x the stake, but this is possible because of the high volatility while keeping a decent RTP at 96.45%. The features that I’d mention include reel expansion, expanding wilds, scatters, and four types of free spins.
Mustang Riches Slot Betting and Prizes
Depending on the budget that you’re working with, wagers between $0.20 and $40 can be selected for each spin.
As it should be, since this is a highly volatile game, the top jackpot can have a serious impact on someone’s life. 7,236x the stake is the biggest return that you can see while playing Mustang Riches. We’ve definitely seen better in other volatile slots, but I’m happy with the offer here since the Return to Player of 96.45% is also above the average numbers we’ve been seeing lately.
Features
One of the popular options that we’ve been seeing in new slots is some way for the game area to expand, and SpinPlay Games have their own version for it. It’s called BlazingWays in this case, and it will add extra symbols at the top of the reels that get Coins on them. You collect these Coins in special meters, found at the top of each column. The expansion occurs by 1 position for 1 coin, so you can get to 5x6 reels and 7,776 ways to win at most. As you go through the spins, the coins are removed one by one, and the game area goes back to normal eventually.
Expanding wilds will be used on the middle three reels. They take over the reels, and they count as multiple symbols on them, giving the number of ways to win a boost. Of course, you use them as replacement symbols, useful for most combinations.
To get into the free spins feature, you are required to get 3 scattered Horseshoe symbols. There are four options that you pick from, as mentioned below. You get 1 free spin for each new Coin, and you can still expand the game area, which will not go back down to the original size once it gets to its maximum height.
- 3 free games that get 7,776 ways to win;
- 5 free games with 3,125 ways to win as the starting point;
- 8 free games and 1,024 ways to win to begin with;
- 12 free games that have the regular game area (243 ways).
Theme & Design
I wouldn’t expect anything too original or different about Mustang Riches, it comes with the same wildlife theme and collection of symbols as many of the other slots covering the North American prairie. Half a dozen Royals show up there, paying the smallest prizes, but there are also better symbols (Rabbit, Snake, Eagle, Coyote, and Mustang). The feature symbols come as a Horseshoe and a Gold Coin.
Conclusion
Mustang Riches manages to bring in front of the player a variation of the same features we’ve been seeing elsewhere. It’s their own version for it though, and the BlazingWays are interesting enough that I’d add them to the list of things you should be checking out.
