Masters of Valhalla Slot Machine: Review & Demo

Snowborn Games has created several excellent slot machines for Microgaming, and it looks like there is another one that is in the works, due out in early 2022. Masters of Valhalla is going to be its name, and it’s a slot machine that offers plenty of risks, but it also comes with high rewards. It also has a Nordic theme that many love, and several features that should be interesting.

You’re going to get up to 1024 combinations from as many ways to win, found on 5x4 reels. Masters of Valhalla will pay up to 20,000x the stake, though, with its high volatility, you’d need to be quite lucky. The RTP of the slot is good at 96%, its maximum level, but it’s possible to have lower values as well. Major features could include the Berserk Booster, Valhalla Bonus, scatters, or wilds.

Masters of Valhalla Slot Betting and Prizes

$25 is the highest bet that you can select inside, and that’s good enough for a slot machine where there is a considerable risk as well. The minimum wager can be as low as $0.10, so smaller budgets are also covered.

As for the rewards that a player could claim, 20,000x the stake is the highest prize that can be paid. It’s a decent return in any slot machine, though of course, this comes with a certain amount of extra risk (you can’t pay a lot of money unless a lot of players have losing spins).

It’s important that the RTP is at a good level though, and the 96% mentioned as its highest value should be sufficient for most. Watch out for the RTP though, as lower options are also included for operators.

Features

You will discover that the slot uses four types of wilds, each one connected to another god. These are substitutes, and symbols that may form winning combinations together, in which case rewards of up to 15x the stake can be paid.

You can collect the wilds that land on the reels, and at that point, it’s possible to trigger a random feature, called Wild God Respins. You get 1 respin, and for it, the slot adds up to 19 more wilds to the reels. The wild which triggered the respins decides which God remains on the reels, all others being transformed into it. With so many wilds and fewer types of God symbols as well, there are excellent odds of landing a lot of winning combinations at the same time.

You will be able to also collect bonus symbols when they show up only on 2 of the 3 reels where they are present. If you fill the Berserker Booster meter, then you will get a better version of the bonus game.

3 or 4 spins in the Valhalla Bonus are offered if you can get three scatters to appear at the same time. The version with 4 spins is for those that managed to fill the meter beforehand. The spins will reset when new symbols land. Initially, you get 3 shield symbols, which provide prizes of up to 50x the stake.

• Wooden Shield pays up to 9x the stake.
• Gold Shield pays up to 50x.
• Thor will pay a prize, while also increasing the game area by one.
• Freya can show up with a multiplier that will increase all other prizes.
• Hugin and Munin can increase all other prizes as well.
• Odin will improve wins landing that round and during the next one.
• Garmr will collect all prizes and will also have its own multiplier.
• Hel will keep collecting prizes from all spins that follow.

Additional prizes, of up to 500x, are going to be paid if you fill all those reels with symbols. Either way, you also collect prizes from the symbols present at the end.

Theme & Design

Valhalla’s gates are behind the reels, treasure chests are nearby, and ravens are watching over the game area as you spin its reels. It’s a typical Nord-themed slot in a lot of ways, but the quality is pretty good, and I did enjoy it.

The symbols being used are split into three categories. We have feature symbols for one, using the Gates of Valhalla, or a W logo. There are top-paying symbols, with characters such as Odin, Freya, or the Ice Queen. And then there are low-paying symbols as well, with the various Nordic runes.

Conclusion

Microgaming has another excellent slot machine for their collection, sporting a theme that many prefer, and with a varied mix of special features that should keep things fun.
