Microgaming’s own Lucky Leprechaun Clusters is a sequel for a 2015 game that they also released. They’ve made sure to change plenty of things up about this new slot, especially when it comes to the way it’s going to be played, but the graphics aren’t among the things you will notice as improvements. Still, it’s a brand new game area, along with a different game engine, so it’s worth checking out.
Lucky Leprechaun Clusters will use a Cluster Pays engine, available on 7x7 reels. With a top jackpot of $230,000, or up to 4,600x the stake, the slot could be a decent choice for players, though obviously there are plenty that will have even better rewards while using the same kind of high volatility as this one. Keep in mind that it’s got good numbers in other areas, such as in the 96.31% RTP or the 41.68% hit frequency. Trail O Fortune is one of the features included, but you will also discover a couple of interesting modifiers.

It should pay fairly often, in about 1 out of 2.5 spins, and the RTP is not bad either, at the 96.31% that I’ve seen mentioned.
Features
You’re not going to form winning combinations through the usual active lines, so you’re left with a system that requires 5+ matching symbols to just be next to each other. They can connect horizontally or vertically, but not in a diagonal. The more symbols you get in a cluster, and the better they are, the higher your rewards will be.
The formation of a winning cluster is only the beginning. The Rolling Reels are also integrated into the slot, so you will notice that the winning symbols get removed and collected, to be used in triggering certain modifiers. The new symbols that drop down in the available positions, can lead to additional wins, and even more Rolling Reels.
Since you’re collecting the winning symbols, there is something that comes out of them. Once you get to 21, 42, 63, 84, and then 125 symbols collected in one spin, you get a total of five modifiers and features to trigger.
- Pots O Gold: gives you a number of wilds, and also removes nearby symbols, for a chance at new wins forming.
- Rainbow Road: once again, you get wilds on the reels, and it also removes a row and reel of symbols. The Rolling Reels come next, and add symbols in the empty positions.
- Lucky Coin: gives you Coin wilds at random.
- Shamrock Shake: removes randomly chosen symbols of a certain type, from the game area.
- Trail of Fortune: requires the most symbols collected from winning clusters, 125 in total, and it is a separate bonus game that will ask you to spin a wheel, in order to find out how much you advance on a trail. The end of the trail has the best prize, worth 1,500x the wager.
Theme & Design
The part that many will not be impressed with, is the use of an Irish theme, with a leprechaun in the main role. Such a common theme and they still rely on a dated design, borrowed from the original slot that launched in 2015. It’s a big game area though, with 49 symbols visible, on 7x7 reels.
Those symbols give us the four top Royals at first, Jack to Ace, and then continue with images of pipes, violins, beer, or the Leprechaun.
Conclusion
Lucky Leprechaun Clusters is an interesting one. With a good RTP and high hit rate, but with very high volatility as well, it could prove challenging to a lot of players. It remains a decent game for those that can take the heat.
