Lucky Clucks Slot Machine: Review & Demo
Lucky Clucks is one of those farm-themed slot machines that manage to inject the right amount of humour into their designs. I’ve seen several released in the last couple of years, and now we’re looking at the version coming from Microgaming and Crazy Tooth Studio. There is more to this game than just noteworthy graphics though, as you’re about to find out.
You will find inside a game area that delivers 576 ways to win through its 5 reels (3-4-4-4-3 symbols). It doesn’t pay all that much, only up to 2,201x the stake, even though it has high volatility and an RTP of 96.19%. Among its features, you will discover that it proposes wilds, scatters, the Raise the Roof bonus, and a Big BuildUp mechanic.
Lucky Clucks Slot Betting and Prizes
Your options in Lucky Clucks will allow you to spend between $0.15 and $30 for each round you trigger.
The maximum win that you can claim, is going to be valued at 2,201x the amount you’ve wagered that round. It’s not a bad top jackpot for a lot of slot machines, but as this one has high volatility, I expected more. In the end, it’s just a matter of how the wins are distributed since the RTP is at an acceptable value of 96.19%.
Features
One of the interesting mechanics that the game proposes, is the one they call Big BuildUp. It’s a random event, that can trigger at any point. It will use the chicken symbols, 1 or more laying eggs that will deliver a number of prizes, ranging from up to 5x multipliers to wilds, or a Mother Hen prize. You will find that the game area can expand, by one symbol for each wild that lands. You also use multipliers to give the Mother Hen prize a boost, something which is also possible when you get Corn symbols to land.
Some assistance will come via the wild symbol, which will be used as a substitute or for its own combinations.
A Bonus scatter is also being used in the game, and you can rely on it as a way to trigger the other big feature that’s available, called Raise the Roof. With 3 to 5 scatters triggering it, the feature will deliver 5 to 9 spins, respectively. There is no way to retrigger this feature, so you’re only getting the initial rounds to play with.
In this mode, the Chicken symbols will add wilds when they land, and this expands the reel they are on by one position. This allows for more ways to win in this mode, compared with the base game. The wilds don’t go away immediately. Instead, they drop down by one spot each spin, until they leave the game area.
Theme & Design
Lucky Clucks offers a funny-looking design that takes us to a farm and presents us with the many chickens and hens that live there. You see them at the top of the reels, and they’re even part of the game area, though during regular spins they are passive icons.
For its paying symbols, the game has the J to A Royals, followed by the Horseshoes coloured in purple, blue, or gold. The Pig, Goat, Sheep, and Cow, are the top symbols. Chicken and Corn are passive symbols, which become useful during special features. A wild and a scatter are also present, and quite helpful if you can get them.
Conclusion
Lucky Clucks is one of the more interesting new online slots that are joining Microgaming’s collection these days. It doesn’t pay all that much, but it’s not often that we see gameplay that feels unique, so it’s worth checking out for that alone.
