Lara Croft: Tomb of the Sun Slot Machine: Review & Demo
One of the big branded slots from Games Global (and Microgaming before it) was always the Tomb Raider franchise. Lara Croft: Tomb of the Sun is the most recent release in a series that got a few other titles. Triple Edge Studios designed the last two slots of the series, but Games Global owns the licensing rights.
The slot machine offers 1,024 ways to win and spins 5x4 reels each round. It has a fairly low potential, up to 3,500x the stake paid by the Grand Jackpot, yet it’s highly volatile. A 96.36% RTP is the best it will offer in the long run. As for the main features, those range from the sticky Power Wilds to Rolling Reels with the Multiplier Trail, Free Spins, and the Jackpot Bonus.
Lara Croft: Tomb of the Sun Betting and Prizes
Lara Croft: Tomb of the Sun can be played with a $0.20 wager, but you can also go higher, as the upper limit is at $100.
You don’t get the same big prizes that other high-volatility slots offer these days. 3,500x the stake is the upper limit of what’s possible, and that’s through the Grand Jackpot. Given the high volatility and the multiplier trail boosting wins by up to 15x, I would’ve wanted much more from it. The RTP is going up to 96.36%, but you’re not guaranteed to get that setting, so check this with your favorite casino.
Slot Features
Forming winning combinations is not difficult since the ways to win system is used. These wins are followed by the Rolling Reels mechanic, which replaces the symbols involved with new ones for additional chances to win. The multiplier trail is tied to the Rolls, boosting wins by 1x to 5x during regular spins and from 3x to 15x for free spins.
You get help from Power Wilds that stick around for three winning combinations until they’re eventually removed.
A Jackpot bonus feature is also possible, but it’s randomly triggered when wilds are present. Up to 3,500x the stake can be paid inside.
Now, the main feature looks familiar, thanks to its tripling of the multiplier trail values. These now go from 3x to 15x, and you get to take advantage of them over the course of up to 15 free spins (and you can then retrigger these).
Theme & Design
The adventures of Lara Croft appear to be taking her to South America in this particular release. We see her running or shooting in the major symbols, but icons also show a compass or treasure maps. The stone idols are going to appear in the other symbols.
Conclusion
Lara Croft: Tomb of the Sun manages to bring several powerful features in this interesting package, but it doesn’t do anything you haven’t seen before in other popular slots. The low jackpot is another one that I’m not impressed with.
