Hyper Gold Slot Machine: Review & Demo
Microgaming adds one more exclusive slot machine to their roster, a game called Hyper Gold. It was designed for them by Gameburger Studios. Looking at everything the game has to offer, from theme and graphics, to features and top payouts, you’re going to find that it’s designed with experienced players in mind, but it doesn’t give them anything that they can’t get somewhere else. Link & Win might sound like something new, but you’re looking at a glorified Hold & Win respin feature.
Hyper Gold players via 5x3 reels, with 25 pay lines activated for every single round you get through. Land the right symbols on all those lines, and a jackpot of 12,500x the stake could be yours, with a top value of $250,000 that could be paid. Higher volatility is one downside here, but the RTP looks OK at 96.08%. Moving on to the big features, we discover that there are expanding wilds present, along with several scatters, Link & Win respins, but also free spins where you get to use 3x3 mega symbols.
Hyper Gold Betting and Prizes
A wager of only $0.10 will do the job, and the reels will spin with all lines active then. The amount can be increased to as much as $20, which will give you better payouts, but the same number of lines will be used otherwise.
Should the Win Booster button be pressed, the amount wagered is increased by 2.5x. That’s going to allow bets to go up to $50 per spin, and in exchange there are much better odds of getting enough Casino Chips, to trigger Link & Win.
Regardless of whether the Win Booster option is active or not, the top payout’s worth remains the same, a 12,500x multiple of the wager, which could mean $250,000 cash at most. It’s all thanks to a highly volatile slot, which long-term is expected to have a 96.08% RTP.
Slot Features
A bit of help will be coming from the wild symbol, which will attempt to help you form new winning combinations, behaving as a substitute for any regulars found on the same active lines as it is. This is an expanding wild, moving upwards when it lands, to occupy additional positions. You will form combinations out of wilds alone, if you’re lucky, with up to 500x the stake paid for a full line covered.
Special symbols will include the scatters that can get you 10 free spins, though you do need 3 of those symbols visible at the same time. In this mode, you play with mega reels, 3x3 symbols landing on the columns 2, 3, and 4. An additional 10 rounds are offered, if you can get a mega scatter to show up.
One more feature is available, and it’s called Link & Win. It is available under various names from other developers, so it’s not new, and you might know it as HyperHold, or Hold and Win, among other designations.
First, you need 6+ Casino Chips landing on the reels, scattered. This triggers 3 respins, which you can retrigger by getting more Chips to show up on the reels. You either get blanks or Chips, so the regular symbols are eliminated. Once you run out of respins, or when you fill the reels with Chips, the feature is over and you get paid. Each Chip is going to have a prize for you, but there is also a series of jackpots that could trigger, including the Mega version (5,000x the stake).
Theme & Design
I’m not loving the theme of this one, mostly because there is nothing to see here. It’s a standard money/gold themed design, with some Casino Chips thrown in. That’s it, and while the look is modern, it’s not a slot that tells a story.
Among the slot’s symbols, there are several variants for the gold bars and gold coins icons, a dollar sign, a wild logo, casino chips, as well as the lower value Royals.
Conclusion
Hyper Gold slot doesn’t innovate as much as we’d have liked, and I’m not sure why they had to give us the HyperHold feature under the Link & Win name. It’s volatile, it can pay well, but originality is not a strong point in its favor.
