Fiona’s Fortune Slot Machine: Review & Demo
Released by Gold Coin Studios, Fiona’s Fortune can only be found at Microgaming casinos. We’ve seen a number of other great slot machines that have reached the market this way, thanks to the partnership between these two companies. As for the game, we’re seeing a couple of modern features inside, especially the Link & Win respins, along with an Irish theme that’s easy enough to find elsewhere if you really want to.
Fiona’s Fortune will give the player 25 active lines, and there will be 5 reels present inside. You can see the Wheel which spins on the left side, and it will be the main way for you to get the best rewards, of up to 5,000x the stake (Mega Jackpot). Even better, those payouts come from a Medium volatility slot, which has an RTP of up to 96%. Major features to look out for, including the Link & Win, a Bonus Wheel, a Collect mechanic, and the stacked wilds.
Fiona’s Fortune Betting and Prizes
With all those lines active, Fiona’s Fortune lets you spend between $0.20 and $40 on each round that is triggered.
Fiona’s Fortune pays incredibly well for a slot machine whose volatility is medium, but that’s going to come from its features, not regular combinations. The former can deliver wins of up to 5,000x the stake, while combinations of regular symbols pay at most 8x per line (200x per spin).
Make sure you’re getting a version of Fiona’s Fortune that has a 96% RTP. The rest of the RTP range comes at 94% or 92%, and neither of those is acceptable in a modern online slot.
Slot Features
Fiona, an Irish girl with red hair, is visible in the wild symbol. You see this one when it lands on reels 2-5, as a substitute for all regular symbols (not for scatters or other features though).
Through the Clover scatter, you can trigger 10 free spins. All you need is for three scatters of this type to land, on reels 2-4. There is the possibility to retrigger this feature. The main advantage is that the Express Collect comes with bigger prizes in this mode.
Express Collect is a feature that requires that you land Gold Coin symbols on the first four reels, while a Pot of Gold symbol lands on the 5th reel. If both those requirements are met, then Express Collect is triggered, and you claim the prizes shown on the coins. Some of the smaller fixed jackpots can be claimed this way (up to 400x the stake), along with regular cash prizes (up to 200x).
Most games have a bigger target for players to aim for, and in Fiona’s Fortune that would be the Wheel Bonus. To activate it, you need a 1st reel Bonus Wheel symbol, while the Pot of Gold is present on the 5th reel.
Once triggered, the Wheel will spin and will deliver one of several types of prizes. You could get a regular cash prize of 2x to 10x the stake, a fixed jackpot (three available, from 20x to 5,000x the stake), and access to Link & Win.
If Link & Win is the one triggered, it will start with an initial 3 spins. Symbols showing Coins, Pots of Gold, or the Wheel, will become sticky when they land. Whenever a new one lands, the spins reset back to 3 remaining. At the end of the feature, you could have as many as 15 Link & Win symbols present (maxing out that number pays the Mega Jackpot). Otherwise, each symbol will have a prize of its own, going up to 200x the stake for regular ones, and up to 400x for fixed jackpots.
Theme & Design
The theme and design are Irish in nature, and they’re not at all unusual these days. Both at land-based casinos and at online ones, you can easily locate some other Irish-themed slot machine, if you want to.
For its symbols, Fiona’s Fortune has five initial Royals, colored in dark green and going from a 10 to an A. Three premium symbols follow, with the Harp, Toadstool, and Beer Mug. You get about five different feature symbols, with images of Fiona (wild), Clover (free spins scatter), Gold Coin, Bonus Wheel, and Pot of Gold.
Conclusion
Fiona’s Fortune could definitely be a good option for modern players, even though the graphics don’t have the same quality as many of its competitors. The payouts can be pretty good, but you need to understand that it mostly comes from its features, with regular wins paying little by comparison (up to 200x per spin with just regular symbols).
