Dungeons and Diamonds Slot Machine: Review & Demo
The inspiration for Dungeons and Diamonds appears to have come from the D&D genre (Dungeons & Dragons), but that connection is only seen in the fantasy-style graphics which were used. I think you will appreciate this brand new Microgaming exclusive (via PearFiction) mostly for its features and excellent graphics, but there are some weak spots to be considered as well.
You’re playing with 40 active lines, but don’t get too excited, as there are 5x5 reels active each round. Using everything the slot throws at you, could leave you with a top prize of 5,626x the stake (Grand Jackpot alone can pay 5,000x the stake of that round). 96% is the best RTP you can get from it, and the volatility is expected to be High. I think you will appreciate the list of features, which give us stacked premium symbols, wilds, scatters, free spins, three types of Instant Collect symbols, and a bonus game called Wicked Wizard’s Jackpot.
Dungeons and Diamonds Betting and Prizes
At the start, the slot will require that you decide on the amount which will be included in the bet. There are several possible values, with the extremes being $0.20 and $50.
Dungeons and Diamonds will give you a more volatile experience, something which has become common in recent years. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with the same big top jackpots that some of the others are including. At best, you can get 5,000x the stake from its most powerful feature. Up to 5,626x may be paid at the end of a single spin.
96% is the RTP that you should be playing with, and make sure you watch out for that, as the second best option on the list is 94.20%, and that’s already too low to use.
Slot Features
Dungeons and Diamonds slot has a large game area, but it includes stacked premium symbols, so it could help you get decent-sized wins at times.
Whether it’s low or high paying symbols, they can all get help from the Wild symbol when forming those combinations. Of course, the wild needs to be positioned properly, to be included in a win as a substitute for a missing symbol.
Another major feature of this new slot, the free spins need for three scatters to land simultaneously. 8 free spins can be awarded then. Should another 3 scatters land, you get 8 more spins each time. For the duration of the free spins, the Collect, Gem, and Jackpot symbols are present more often on the reels.
A major component of this game, the Collect symbol has three variants, each one ultimately resulting in the collection of whatever Gems with prizes that land on the first four reels. Whenever one of the three Collect symbols appear on reel 5, one of the following happens:
- Regular Collect, which simply collects all prizes from Green Gems (up to 25x the stake paid by each one).
- Multiplier Collect, which also boosts wins from those Gems by up to 5x.
- Respin Collect, used to respin the reels in the hopes that additional Gems will land, before the collection occurs.
Besides Gems, the Collect symbols can also be used to get you access to Wicked Wizard’s Jackpot, a bonus game. You just need a Jackpot symbol present on one of the first four reels, while the Collect is on the 5th. A picking feature comes next, with pouches of gems on the screen, where you’re trying to find as big of a jackpot as possible. Four of them are included, and the Grand is the best one, at 5,000x the stake.
Theme & Design
With dragons sleeping on top of piles of gold coins, and with four heroes from different classes part of the premium symbols, you’re getting a classic fight from a fantasy story. The graphics are excellent, so those that enjoy modern slots should have fun with it.
Finally, we have the symbols to mention, and they start with four card suits shaped like jewelry, then continue with the stacked characters (Wizard as top symbol, along with Sorceress, Warrior, and Ranger).
Conclusion
Dungeons and Diamonds could be a good slot machine for any player that enjoys fantasy in general, but if you wanted a true D&D style game, you will likely be disappointed.
