Cat Clans is a new slot game, a joint release from Snowborn Games and Microgaming. With cute cartoon-style graphics, the game blends two types of themes that don’t typically go together, the Middle Ages and Cats. We’re looking at cats ruling over cat kingdoms, living in castles and fighting between themselves. Of course, treasures are involved as well, and the player gets his chance to claim some of them.

5x3 reels are used, and there will be 20 paylines active for each spin you go through. There is incredible potential in this game, which is capable of paying up to 20,000x the stake per spin. Highly volatile, it comes with an RTP range that can be as high as 96%. From its multipliers wilds to bonus games, scatters, and free spins, there is a good mix of special features for players to explore.

Cat Clans Betting and Prizes

The wagers which are required for Cat Clans will allow you to activate all lines while spending as little as $0.20 each round. You can spend quite a bit more if you want to, even up to $25 per spin.

I think that you’re going to love the potential rewards that Cat Clans can deliver. 20,000x the stake is the highest that the game will go, which means that you could claim up to $500,000 cash (at maximum bet).

Of note here, is the slot’s high volatility, which means that a lot of players will find themselves losing quickly, despite the 33% hit frequency (1 in 3 rounds is a winner). As far as RTP goes, there are three levels that operators can choose from, at 96%, 94%, and 92%.

Slot Features

I will mention the slot’s wild symbol first, which you will notice that it has the image of a Bomb on it. Acting as a substitute, it will have a random multiplier value each time it lands, anywhere from 1x to 5x. It will then boost all regular wins that are formed with its help, and with 2+ wilds in a combo, the multipliers are going to be added together for an even bigger boost.

You can also get wilds to form combinations by themselves, in which case you get the game’s best rewards, up to 111x the stake on each line where this happens.

Next, I think you’re going to want the free spins feature, which triggers through the usual three scatters landing at the same time (1st, 3rd and 5th reel). You then get a Cat-A-Pult feature, which consists of 3 initial free spins. The way to reset the free spins back to the initial 3 rounds, is to get a wild to land on the reels. If none land within those spins, the feature ends once you run out.

Any new wilds landing at this point will become sticky and will have an increasing multiplier. Up to 9x multiplier wilds are possible, though you’d need to retrigger the feature several times to get them. You can still combine multipliers from several wilds, for bigger boosts to prizes.

The bonus game requires the collection of overlay Paw Prints from the cat symbols. Eventually, you trigger a feature where you play through 5 spins, and you get a prize associated with one of the cats. Up to 10,000x, the stake can be won.

Theme & Design

As I previously mentioned, it’s a slot machine where cats are main characters, acting as humans would, and dressing as them of course. It sports cartoon-style graphics, is highly detailed, and it’s actually one of the better-looking games I’ve seen in Microgaming’s collection lately.

Cat Clans offers a decent mix of symbols, ranging from the usual Royals, continuing with icons showing Milk, Fish Bones, and four main characters (Cat With Axe, Cat Magician, Cat Archer, and the King).

Conclusion

Cat Clans is a pretty good game overall, a slot machine with excellent rewards and plenty of fun features, not to mention a theme and design that are enjoyable.
