4 Diamond Blues Megaways Slot Machine: Review & Demo
Microgaming’s upcoming exclusive slot machine, 4 Diamond Blues Megaways, is coming from an independent studio called Buck Stakes Entertainment. BTG’s Megaways engine is being used, along with all the rest of the classic features that many of these games tend to have. Not a lot of originality here, not even theme wise, since we’re looking at classic symbols, but the gameplay is solid and the design modern.
4 Diamond Blues Megaways can have up to 117,649 Megaways for you to form combinations with, using for this 6 reels that will get a random number of symbols. You will encounter wild symbols, scatters, free spins, and multipliers, all solid features, but not surprising. What you’re going after, is a top jackpot worth 18,500x the stake. Not easy to get, particularly in a slot with high volatility, but at least the odds are fine, as the 96.40% RTP tells us.
4 Diamond Blues Megaways Betting and Prizes
Even with 117,649 ways to win possible, you still play this game with wagers as small as $0.10 per spin. Those that can afford it, will have the option to spend up to $20.
An 18,500x jackpot has been included with 4 Diamond Blues Megaways. The slot will pay just fine, it’s a jackpot that would’ve impressed anyone a couple of years ago, but these days you can get that much and more, from many other games.
The volatility rating is high, but so is the RTP, which is expected to be 96.40% in the long run.
Slot Features
Like most Megaways releases, this too offers 6 reels, and a maximum of 117,649 ways to win. To get there, you’d need the maximum of 7 symbols landing on each reel, including here the four extra symbols added on top of reels 2-5. You get paid when you have enough matching symbols on consecutive reels, going left to right (3 to 6 are needed).
Once a winning combination gets formed, the Rolling Reels mechanic kicks in, and replaces the symbols that were part of it, with new ones. If new combinations form then, the Rolls keep doing their thing.
A bit of help will be coming from the slot’s wild, a substitute that you will use together with regular symbols, to form new wins.
Whenever Diamond scatters land 4, 5, or 6 times in view, the game will give you 12, 17, or 22 free spins, respectively. Retriggering the feature is possible with either 3 or 4 scatters, and adds either 5 or 10 free spins, respectively.
Like in a lot of other Microgaming slots that use this mechanic, the Rolling Reels are getting an upgrade for the free spins. There is now an increasing multiplier, that is attached to them. Whenever you form combinations and you get Rolling Reels to kick in, the multiplier increases by 1x. This can happen even multiple times in a single free spin, through successive Rolls. The multiplier doesn’t reset between free spins, only at the end of the feature.
Theme & Design
It’s a classic theme, so there are a lot of diamonds, bells, cherries, Bars, and horseshoes, right alongside the four card suits. Absolutely nothing exciting then, about the game’s design. On the other hand, they went for a retro-style design, and highly polished symbols, which is not a bad look for them. I wouldn’t say that it’s a plus for the game, but it’s done well enough that it’s not a downside either.
Conclusion
4 Diamond Blues Megaways is a forgettable game, in a sea of Megaways slot machines that offer similar features and payouts. Not even the design is particularly unique. It’s good enough to play, but there are a lot of similar alternatives available to you.
